Larry Dent

In addition to solid technical skills, I have a great appreciation and facility for a wide variety of musical styles. I enjoy the chemistry of working with songwriters and like minded musicians in the spirit of give and take that produces a musical creation. I have traveled extensively in my career and have a well developed sense of how positive team spirit contributes to the success of a project.

Larry Dent

Larry Dent began drumming at age thirteen and by nineteen years of age he had earned an endorsement from Pearl Drums. Larry moved to New York after high school and after paying his dues there he moved on to Los Angeles. With a solid thirty-two years of drumming experience to his credit, Larry has earned a reputation as a drummer who is at ease with virtually any musical style.

Larry Dent has recorded for a number of major record companies in the United States, Canada and Europe including: MCA, A&M, Capitol Records, Motown and Warner Brothers Records.

Larry is equally at home with the jazz of Joe Sample, the pop style of Barry Manilow, the soul sounds of Junior Walker & The All-Stars and Norman Whitfield, the reggae sounds of Big Youth or the rock sounds of Ratt.

Larry Dent is currently sponsored by Pro Mark Percussion. San Diego is Larry’s home and he divides his time between there, Los Angeles and the road, doing both studio work and live performances.
